On the 153rd Anniversary of the ratification of the 14th Amendment, Inclusive Justice hosted an important forum on the 14th Amendment and the struggle to achieve full equality under the law.  The story of the 14th Amendment is partly the history of the struggle for human rights in this country including the rights of African Americans, women, and most recently same-sex couples.

Keynote speakers for this event included Rogers M. Smith, recent President of the American Political Science Association and the Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of The Unsteady March: The Rise and Decline of Racial Equality in America (co-authored with Philip Klinkner), (1999).  Also speaking will be Congresswoman Debbie Dingell; former Detroit NAACP President Heaster Wheeler; and Jay Kaplan, staff attorney for the ACLU of Michigan’s LGBT Project.
