Our world is changing: from social change to climate change the planet is in flux.  Jewish and queer culture have deep insights for times of change, uncertainty, and growth.  In this session, we will explore a queer Jewish perspective for the spiritual needs of living in times of transition and creating a more interdependent world.

Rabbi Elliot Kukla was ordained by Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles in 2006 and trained in chaplaincy at UCSF Medical Center in 2007.  Elliot’s articles and ideas on gender diversity, chronic illness, and healing are published in numerous magazines and anthologized widely including in the New York Times, and his work as a rabbi has been featured nationally, including in the Washington Post and National Geographic. His liturgy that marks loss and transition appear in numerous prayer books and are used in synagogues across the country.  He has served as adjunct faculty in pastoral care at Starr King School for the Ministry, a member school of the Graduate Theological Seminary.

Rabbi Eric Weiss is a spiritual direction supervisor, and is a co-founder of “Grief & Growing™: A Healing Weekend for Individuals andFamilies” and “Kol Haneshama: A Jewish Hospice/End-of-life Care Volunteer Program.”  He has served on the national board of the Central Conference of American rabbis (CCAR), the Reform movement’s national rabbinic body.  Rabbi Weiss teaches extensively throughout the Bay Area, and has been featured in local and national media.
