In this course, participants will examine four pastoral care situations; each situation will address transgender, genderqueer, and/or nonbinary individuals and their communities. Course participants will reflect on each situation using scripture, ethical considerations, and doctrinal or polity-based resources from their own faith traditions.

In progressive theological education and in the work of spiritually inclusive ministry we must create communities of care for all those who live beyond our outside of cisgender expectations.  In doin so we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of all people of all genders. Living into this spiritual imperative requires quality pastoral care for transgender. nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals.

This course also addresses culturally relevant and diverse situations of cahttps://pastoralcare-transcommunity.eventbrite.comre that are unique to transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming individuals and communities. This course will address pastoral care and spiritual care in transgender communities, including those who are transgender, nonbinary. gender nonconforming, gender creative, genderqueer. agender. gender expansive, and others with a variety of non-normative gender identities; as well as their families and communities that stand in solidarity with differently gendered people.
