Below is information from the conference website:

“The In My Mind Conference is about, for, and by LGBTQ+/SGL Peoples of Color.”

“This two-day forum brings together mental health consumers, clinicians, students and academics from across the region, nation and globe in formats to encourage a rare cross-pollination of concerns and experiences; providing opportunities for these groups to speak with and listen to each other as they raise, explore and discuss the many subject areas affecting young LGBTQ+/Same-Gender Loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) peoples of color mental health.

The Conference Program looks at the many issues impacting young LGBTQ+ people of color, including foster care, homelessness and the shelter system, the criminal justice system and incarceration, education, physical/external and social/internal environmental factors, HIV, and the COVID-19 pandemic – how these impact our communities mental health and by extension, choices and decisions, with long-term effects on their lives.

The Conference Program will be segmented over two days, and will consist of invited Speakers to address aspects of the conference’s theme, with an emphasis on young LGBTQ+ people of color, and Breakout Presentations (Workshops, Panel Discussions, Stand-Alone, and Virtual Poster Presentations), which delve deeper to explore many issues impacting our communities mental health.

Recognizing that often we often claim that we need to listen to our youth, that at this year’s Conference, our young LGBTQ+ people of color are our Speakers, and are integral to the Conference’s planning – their voices are being encouraged. Concurrent Breakout presenters will be expected to address the issues facing and the future for our communities’ young LGBTQ+ people of color.

Speaker presentations will be for 45-minutes to establish common starting points and to set the tone, and Breakouts featuring presenters in 60-minute concurrent single/stand-alone, small group webinars – some geared for clinicians and others for community members; for eligible presentations, Callen-Lorde Community Health Center returns as a Sponsor and provides Continuing Education Credits/Units for LCSWs and LMSWs.

We look forward to welcoming you and celebrating your resilience at this year’s In My Mind.”
