PSR Dean, Mary Tolbert, will facilitate a conversation with the coordinators of the CLGS Racial/Ethnic Roundtable project (African American, Asian Pacific Islander, and Latino/a). Join us in the Mudd Building, Room 100 at 12:30pm. Bring your lunch and CLGS will provide drinks and dessert.
This is one of many events CLGS will host the week of September 19 to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry was founded at Pacific School of Religion in 2000 as the first LGBT center in an American seminary.
The Politics of Silence: Homophobia in the Black Church
This CLGS African American Roundtable forum will be hosted by Pastor Roger E. Hayes of the Church of the Holy Spirit Fellowship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This important conversation will consider the silence around sexuality in African American churches and how this silence has contributed to high-risk sexual behavior and the effects of such behavior throughout the African American community.
