Out Lesbian Elected as Bishop in Los Angeles

On December 5, 2009, the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles elected the Rev. Canon Mary Glasspool as their assistant bishop, the first time an openly lesbian or gay priest has been elected a bishop in the Episcopal Church since Gene Robinson became Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003.
