Founded
2000:The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry (CLGS) was the first center in the world dedicated to the study of and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people at a religious seminary or theological school.
Institutional Mission
To advance the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, and to transform faith communities and the wider society by taking a leading role in shaping a new public discourse on religion and sexuality through education, research, community building and advocacy.
Structure
CLGS is a program unit of Pacific School of Religion and enjoys the full support of its board of trustees, faculty, staff, and students. CLGS has its own advisory board and is responsible for raising its own funding from grants and private donations.
