Souls a' Fire 3

April 27 to April 28, 2007

As we continue to foster critical dialogue on issues of race, religion, gender, and sexuality, CLGS' African American Roundtable

presented its biennial Souls a'Fire 3 Conference. Hosted in Philadelphia in conjunction with Philadelphia Black Gay Pride.

This year's conference focused on leadership development for those interested in Black Christian traditions, gender, and sexuality.

The Center's Racial/Ethnic Roundtable project addresses the critically important intersections of race, gender, sexuality and religion - intersections that are frequently overlooked in primarily white organizations and institutions.

In 2003, the CLGS African American Roundtable organized the first national gathering of black pastors, scholars and activists to consider those intersections at the Souls a'Fire conference in Berkeley. Souls a'Fire 2 was held in 2005 in Chicago and Souls a'Fire 3, originally scheduled for next summer, has been moved up to the weekend of April 27-28, 2007, to coincide with Black Pride Philadelphia.

These unique and innovative gatherings offer the very latest and pioneering work around race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality and religion and rightly belong at the heart of the CLGS mission.

The registration fee for this two day conference was $25
