Open and Affirming Roman Catholic Institutions

November 29, 2007 at 8:00am

By Pacific School of Religion Mudd 100 Bring your lunch; CLGS will provide dessert and drinks. This is a CE credit-approved event.

Fr. Donal will present case studies of Most Holy Redeemer parish in The Castro and the University of San Francisco. These two very differing institutions are Catholic examples of best practice with regard to the LGBTQ community. Their transformation happened through compromise and conflict at times, despite opposition from many sources, including the institutionalized homophobia of the church and society. Fr. Donal will share how these hope-filled stories have a wider significance for the Catholic church.

Join the Center for Lesbian & Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry on November 29 to hear about the intersection of LGBTQ communities and Catholic ministry.
