Honoring a Ugandan Leading Voice
“I want to assure you that there is no turning back on this road to full inclusion and pastoral sensitivity to all God's people in our Church…”
-- Bishop Senyonjo
CLGS is delighted to honor the Rt. Rev. Christopher Senyonjo, the retired Anglican Bishop of West Buganda in Uganda, with a Leading Voice Award. In 2006 Bishop Senyonjo was expelled from the Church of Uganda for his outspoken support of gay and lesbian people yet still serves as the chaplain to the Integrity chapter in Uganda. The anti-gay legislation currently being considered in his country would make his work illegal and he could be imprisoned. Bishop Senyonjo is on a speaking tour in the U.S. and Europe to talk about the situation in Uganda and to promote the full inclusion of all people in the Church.
Join us for this special occasion on May 24, beginning with refreshments at 10:30am in the PSR Chapel.
A reception will be held in the Bishop's honor the evening before this event, at the home of Bishop Marc and Sheila Andrus in San Francisco. For more information about this reception, contact the Rev. John Kirkley.
