Job title: Archives Project Assistant
Job description: Process the archival collections that CLGS receives; duties include:
- Going through the acquired materials and papers and preserving them by removing things such as staples and paperclips, refolding them in acid-free folders protecting news print from other types of paper, making high resolution copies, and other measures as necessary.
- Assessing what is valuable to CLGS and the collection and what needs to be removed.
- Restricting 3rd party private information that was not released to CLGS or the GTU and/or information about a 3rd party that is not aware that this information has been given (i.e. personal letter written to a pastor that is confidential in nature).
- Creating file folder names, series and finding aids to help researchers access the material that they are seeking.
Qualifications:
Library Work/ Archivist experience
Trial Period:
This position requires a three week introductory trial period. This is a period in which the candidate will establish her/himself in the position by demonstrating her/his ability to perform the job responsibilities well. There will be a performance review at the end of this period.
Hours per week: 10
Date job is to begin: 1 November 2012
Hourly rate: $11.00
Period of employment: 1 November 2012 to 31 May 2013
Preferred workdays: Negotiable
