Welcoming Christianities (1.5)
Online Course Instructor: Bernard Schlager
Historical overview of attitudes toward homosexuality and homosexual liberation movements and figures in contemporary American Christian churches. Focus will be placed on LGBT-affirming churches and movements, individual religious leaders and congregations, and selected denominational histories. In addition, attention will be paid to "anti-gay" movements within American Christianities.
Christology in LGBT Communities (1.5)
On Campus Course (Time & Day TBA) Instructor: Jay Emerson Johnson
An overview of how twentieth century developments in feminist, liberationist and queer theories have reshaped and enriched traditional Christology and with particular reference to the appropriation of these Christologies by LGBT communities and its impact on the mission of both traditional and emerging faith communities.
Sexual Ethics and LGBT Communities (3.0)
On Campus Course (Time & Day TBA) Instructor: Jean Ponder Soto
An examination of Christian ethical traditions and their appropriation by, for and in communities of traditionally marginalized sexual practice. We will consider how such contemporary practice has departed from but has also contributed to the understanding of traditional ethical traditions.
