Mary A. Tolbert, Executive Director

Mary A. Tolbert is the George H. Atkinson Professor of Biblical Studies at the Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. After playing a pivotal role in the conception and realization of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry at PSR, Dr. Tolbert was appointed the Center's first Executive Director and has held that position since the Center opening in the Fall of 2000.

Mary's scholarly teaching and writing are focused on feminism, biblical interpretation and social location, as well as queer theory and gender construction. She and her partner live in the Bay Area. Dr. Tolbert will be on sabbatical from July 2006 through August 2007.
