Letter from the Director

Welcome to the greatly expanded and re-designed website of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry (CLGS) at the Pacific School of Religion. Our goal in this site is to be the premier source on the worldwide web for reliable and up-to-date information and resources on LGBTQ issues and religion.

This site will grow constantly over the next months. We will be continually adding new materials—like articles, bibliographies, speeches, presentations, sermons, etc., to the site in a variety of formats, from printed transcripts to streaming audio. Many of the Center's events and conferences can already be found here and more will come soon. At this beginning moment, most of the resources on the site concern Christianity, but while working to expand that material, we will also be adding resources on other faith traditions—like Judaism, Buddhism, and Islam.

The purpose of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry is to support LGBTQ people by working to transform faith communities and society at large. We hope to shape a new, more informed public discourse on sexuality and religion through educational outreach, research, and community-building. This website is one important expression of that mission. As the only Center for LBGTQ issues and religion established by a seminary or school of religion in the world, we are uniquely positioned to provide you with relevant, reliable, and contemporary information about religion and sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

This website expansion and re-design has been made possible by a very generous grant from the Walter and Evelyn Haas, Jr. Fund and by a grant from the Gill Foundation of Colorado. To continue to expand the site and provide more resources and features, we will need help from each of you. If you like the site and want to see it grow further—and if you feel you have the money to do so—I encourage you to consider donating to the Center through our Make a Donation section.
